Detroit, "The Motor City," offers a compelling mix of affordability, cultural vibrancy, and opportunity, making it an attractive destination for relocation. With a lower cost of living compared to many U.S. cities, Detroit offers affordable housing options in neighborhoods such as Midtown and Corktown. Job opportunities are growing, particularly in tech, healthcare, and automotive industries, while the city's rich history, iconic music heritage, and proximity to the Great Lakes add to its charm.
Detroit's housing costs are notably 32.6% lower than the national average. The average sales price is between $71,000-$101,664, compared to the national average of $338,100 and Michigan’s average of $218,700. An agent’s expertise can save Buyers 5-10% through strategic offers or secure seller-paid closing costs in the thousands of dollars. For Sellers, agents can boost sale prices, locate Buyers faster using professional marketing techniques, and locate off-market homes that no one else is aware are for sale. Relying on Zillow or the Seller’s agent will not get you any of these things, or warn you about undisclosed problems with the property, keep you from selling for less than you could, buying for more than you need to, and handle problems like undisclosed liens or potential property scams in the market. That is why you need your own agent.

Meaning, if you are currently in a lease and move out early…the landlord can’t leave the unit empty and expect you to keep paying for the remainder of the lease. So, your lease cannot stop you from buying a home. Here is a link to Michigan tenants’ rights information, and consult your attorney!
